Group presents recommendations on how to improve policing in the OKC

An advisory service provided several recommendations to the Oklahoma City Police Department during a special meeting Tuesday with the Law Enforcement Task Force. From de-escalation to accountability, transparency and implementation, Chicago-based consulting service 21CP Solutions provided the department with a presentation full of recommendations. The task force met again on Tuesday to find solutions and common ground on police reform. In the presentation, 21CP Solutions made recommendations for de-escalation, such as the Oklahoma City Police Department revising its use of force policy and partnering with community groups for better cultural understanding. Accountability recommendations include assessing who sits on the Citizens Advisory Council and appointing an administrative role. 21CP Solutions also recommends making the ministry’s annual professional standards report available for greater transparency. He also suggested creating a way to file an anonymous complaint. During Tuesday’s meeting, there was agreement that these recommendations must be implemented in a timely manner. 21CP Solutions recommended an implementer to initiate the process.
